April updates: helping the most vulnerable strays

This month we’ve dealt with victims of horrible car accidents and animal cruelty. They are some of the most costly and complex issues we take on, but we are there for the most vulnerable of strays.

We fully depend on you as supporters chipping in to help us save strays suffering in the streets, and preventing puppies and kittens from being born to a life of misery.

Want to help out?
  • €30 covers a sterilisation
  • €80 covers a month in foster care (food, housing and medical support)
  • €1400 covers our medical expenses and sterilisation costs for a month

We’re eternally grateful for your continued support!

Lots of love,

The Zero Strays Georgia Team

Vet checks and new foster dogs

As much as we wish we could take in all strays into foster care, our resources are not enough to do so. Therefore, we are forced to prioritise and often take the most vulnerable strays.

In April we had three new rescues; two paralysed dogs and one dog hit by a car. The two paralysed dogs, named Jenny and Gump, tested positive for ehrlichiosis.

  • Gordon’s puppy X-ray shows everything is normal. His front paw was probably damaged by a car crash but has already healed.
  • Jenny’s X-ray shows that her spine is badly damaged.Goga said there is no chance she will walk again, she will be paralyzed for her whole life.
  • Gump’s X-ray. Goga says the same as for Jenny. But with Gump spine damage is less severe, but changes nothing as I understand.

We also treated two more car accident victims of which one from Anaklia sadly had his leg urgently amputated due to severe damage and infection.

Our Czech team are arranging wheelchair for Jenny who is struggling with her paralysis.

Sterilisations

Sterilising strays is one of our top priorities each month, as it is the best way we have at hand to alleviate suffering and prevent puppies from being born to a life in hell.

€30 can help us sterilise a stray – and by doing that we save so many lives.

This month we sterilised the following lot in and around the areas of Darcheli, Zugdidi, Samtredia:

Adoptions

Oh, there is nothing like seeing a stray arriving at a loving forever home! This month, Ace and Oreo moved to Sweden and Avalon and Lucky to the Czech Republic.

We also received some lovely greetings from strays who’ve now become fully fledged family members in their forever homes.
